💪 You May Still Be Eligible for Stream A

Good news — even though you graduated outside the approved/comparable list, your answers show that you are registered in a comparable jurisdiction and have enough recent practice. This combination means AHPRA may assess you for Stream A through manual review.

Your eligibility now depends on how clearly and correctly your documents are presented. A well-prepared submission often leads to a smooth Stream A outcome.

Quick wins you get immediately:

  • Exact documents list — know exactly what AHPRA will check during manual review
  • “What to upload” examples — avoid the common errors that trigger delays or requests for more evidence
  • Correct structure for your portfolio — how to present your qualification, registration, hours & practice clearly
  • Step-by-step roadmap — from Self-Check → Orientation Part 1 → Application → Registration
  • Templates & wording for employer letters and Certificates of Good Standing
  • Delay-prevention checklist — avoid mistakes that commonly add 4–8 weeks to manual assessment

⚠️ You Are Not Eligible for Stream A

Based on your answers, you do not meet the requirements for Stream A under the 2025 NMBA standard. This is because:

  • ❌ Your nursing qualification was completed before 1 January 2017
  • ❌ Your graduation country is not on the approved/comparable list for Stream A

Under the updated model, nurses who fall into this category are generally placed in Stream B or Stream C, depending on their qualification structure and experience.

This result only reflects your Stream A eligibility. Your full registration pathway will be confirmed by Ahpra once you complete the official self-check and application.

You’re probably not eligible through Stream A

Since you graduated from a country that’s not on the approved list and you graduated before 2017, AHPRA is unlikely to assess you under Stream A.

You might still qualify for Stream A

You’ve graduated and are registered in a comparable country, which is a strong start. But AHPRA also looks at whether you've been recently working as a nurse.

If you've worked at least 1,800 hours since 2017 (around 1 year full-time), you’re likely eligible for Stream A. If not, you may be assessed under a different stream.

You’re probably not eligible through Stream A

Even though you graduated recently and have enough nursing experience, AHPRA also considers where you’re registered — and your registration is not from an approved comparable country.

This means you're likely to be assessed under a different stream, which may involve exams or a bridging program.

You're not eligible yet — but you're close

You've graduated recently, which is a great start — but to qualify for Stream A, AHPRA requires at least 1,800 hours of work experience as a nurse since 2017 AND to be registered in an approved country.

Once you've met those requirements, you may be eligible to register without needing to sit exams or do bridging programs.

You might not be eligible through Stream A

You’ve graduated from an approved country and have sufficient experience — which is a great foundation.

However, AHPRA also assesses whether you are registered in a comparable country. If not, they may direct you to a different registration stream.

🤔 You might still qualify for Stream A

You've met the graduation year and experience requirements, but your current nursing registration isn’t in one of AHPRA’s approved jurisdictions.

AHPRA may still assess you under Stream A, but your application might require additional checks or supporting evidence.

You’re probably not eligible for Stream A

You graduated from a country that’s not on the approved list, have no post-registration experience yet, and aren’t registered in a comparable jurisdiction.

Once you’ve worked 1,800+ hours and registered in a comparable country, you may become eligible under Stream A.
